CMS' SSA to FIPS State and County CrosswalkCMS periodically produces SSA to FIPS state and county crosswalk files. Some CMS data files have SSA state and county codes or county name rather than FIPS state and county codes. The data files below are processed to be easier for SAS and Stata use. The Medicare Advantage (MA) Ratebook also contains SSA and FIPS county codes.
In the 2003-08-19 Source crosswalk file, Angoon, Alaska with SSA county code 02030 has a fips county code of 02031. This FIPS county code does not seem to exist elsewhere, and it appears that the fips county value should be 02231, so this change has been made to the SAS and Stata files.
