NIH CRISP Data 1972-1995The NIH CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. These data are described in "The Allocation of Public Funds for Biomedical R&D," Frank R. Lichtenberg, The AEI Press, 1999 ALL USERS OF THE DATA SHOULD READ THIS PAPER AND CITE IT AS THE SOURCE OF THE DATA
The source grant data files are quite large. There are 1972 file has
1,707,365 lines and
the 1995 file has 3,954,179 lines. 1995 is the last year for this data because it is the last year the amount of the grant was included in NIH CRISP. To download files in Internet Explorer, right click on them and select "Save Target As...". CRISP Thesaurus and TreeThe CRISP thesaurus history shows which description codes are used when and their text description.The 1996 CRISP thesaurus tree CSV file and original TXT file shows how the codes are arranged hierarchically. This SAS program was used to read the data.
